Fiat Chrysler issues massive recall to trucks with airbag issues

Automaker Fiat Chrysler announced a massive recall on September 10 to address two airbag-related problems affecting over 1.5 million trucks in the U.S., ABC News stated.

In the first recall, FCA will address a wiring issue in 1.35 million various Ram pickup truck models and Chassis Cabs. The wiring problem in the steering wheel could result in the drivers’ seat airbag’s sudden deployment even without crash. FCA stated that they are aware of two injury complaints from the unexpected airbag deployment. The second recall affects an estimated 188,000 units of previous and recent “Ram Quad Cab pickup” models with rear side curtain airbags that fail to meet federal safety standards. Occupants of the affected pickups may not be properly protected by the airbags in side collisions or rollover crashes. Reports of accidents or injuries in the second recall were unknown to FCA. The automaker is currently coordinating with owners of the recalled vehicles to have their units repaired.
