Deadly motorcycle crashes in Wisconsin have increased by 15%

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) recently revealed that fatal motorcycle crashes increased by 15 percent in the first half of 2015 compared to 2014, according to the Journal Sentinel on July 3.

As of last month, the DOT had recorded 39 motorcycle deaths since January. In the same period last year, state authorities recorded 34 motorcycle-related fatalities. The DOT considered 2012 as the deadliest year for motorcyclists, as there were 44 fatalities within this period. Various motorcycle groups explained factors on why many motorcyclists are involved in accidents. Wisconsin Motorcycle Safety Program Manager Greg Patzer said he hopes to see the trend decrease as the year goes on.
