Honda added vehicles to recall after Takata agreed to expand its own

An estimated 690,000 Honda vehicles in the U.S. and Japan have been added by the Japanese automaker to their Takata airbag recall, a May 28 article of Reuters reported.

Earlier this month, Honda decided to expand their Takata recall after finding two additional defects related to the airbags. When Takata Corp. recently agreed with federal authorities to broaden their own recall, affecting 34 million vehicles made by 11 vehicle companies, Honda issued a statement recalling the 690K. Since 2008, an estimated 20 million Honda vehicles equipped with faulty Takata airbags have been recalled by the automaker. The defective airbags may blast upon deployment and release metal bits from a broken inflator; this defect has been linked to both deaths and injuries.
