Lawrence head-on truck collision killed one

A female driver recently was killed and a male truck driver was injured in a head-on collision on U.S. 41 in the Town of Lawrence, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported on March 4.

According to reports from the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, the fatal accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on the highway, not far from County U. Police said the northbound vehicle, driven by Erin Cutsforth, 34, veered out of control, traveling through a ditch and into the opposite lanes. Cutsforth’s vehicle was then struck by an oncoming truck in the southbound lane driven by David Byrne, 23. Cutsforth reportedly died at the crash scene while the truck driver was transported to a nearby hospital; Byrne’s truck had caught fire in the wreck, and he managed to escape the vehicle just before authorities arrived at the site. The nature and extent of his injuries were not disclosed.

The accident scene was investigated by a team who reconstructed the event. During this time, southbound U.S. 41 was closed.
