Two churchgoers killed in Racine County pedestrian collision

The legal team of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® extend their sincere condolences to the friends and family suffering from the recent loss in Racine County of Vernetta and Oscar Lang.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the 83-year-old couple was hit by an SUV soon after leaving church on foot on January 24. The collision occurred at around 5:30 p.m., and although two nurses from the same church service attempted to treat the couple on site before emergency medical personnel arrived, the Lang couple succumbed to their injuries on site.

Reverend Mark Danczyk, who lead the service at St. Louis Catholic Church, was able to administer last rites to both Vernetta and Oscar, who were long-time members of the church family.

Lt. Gary Larsen of the Caledonia police stated that the 32-year-old SUV driver and the two children in the vehicle were not injured. The pedestrian crash itself remains under investigation, and the Caledonia police will receive assistance from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
