Mazda included more vehicles in Takata airbag recall

Mazda recently decided to recall more vehicles in the U.S. that are equipped with Takata airbags, an article on BBC News stated December 5.

The expansion announcement by Mazda came after Takata’s decision to refuse the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) request to significantly increase the zone designated in the recall. The automaker currently is recalling an estimated 87,000 vehicles in eight states and U.S. territories including Guam, Saipan and American Samoa. However, this recall falls short of the national expansion some safety regulators are pushing for. Several deaths have been linked to Takata airbags that release metal fragments on impact.
