Officers on bike injured in Menomonie hit-and-run

Officers Maloree Switlick and Daniel Westlund was recently injured in a hit-and-run crash caused by a suspected drunk driver, abc18 reported on September 4.

The accident happened on 6th Street East at around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, when Switlick and Westlund were struck by a vehicle driven by Jacob Bruce, 20. Bruce reportedly drove away from the accident, but authorities easily tracked him down after Switlick was able to provide information of the vehicle. The injured officers were both treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Charges of operating while intoxicated, hit-and-run that caused injuries, underage drinking, and several others were filed against Bruce. He was booked at Dunn County Jail.
