Thousands of Harley-Davidson 2014 touring bikes recalled

Motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson recalled 66,421 touring model motorcycles due to a potential problem that would cause the front wheel to lock during operation, an article by Motorcycle USA stated on July 9.

Recall documents said drivers of the affected touring motorcycles may experience a stalled front wheel during operation if the brake line becomes pinched by the bike’s frame and fuel tank. The wheel may stop due to the increased pressure of the brake fluid. Owners of the recalled bikes are advised to contact a Harley-Davidson dealership. Dealers will address the issue by changing the brake line or reinforcing it with cables. Nearly 40 warranty claims have been issued in relation to this defect, but only one minor injury has occurred as a result.
