Over 59,000 GM sedans with transmission issue recalled

General Motors Co. (GM) is recalling over 59,000 mid-sized sedans due to a potential difficulty shifting into “park,” Reuters reported on May 6.

Federal safety regulators said at least 59,628 previous models of Saturn Aura vehicles sold in the U.S. and Canada were affected by a transmission cable that may easily break. Vehicles with broken transmission cables may prevent drivers from shifting safely into “park” and removing the ignition key, increasing the risk of an accident or injury. GM said they already know of more than two dozen accidents involving the recalled vehicles. GM dealers will repair the recalled vehicles for free.

Defective vehicles unfortunately may cause serious injuries to its owners or bystanders. If this happens to you or to a loved one, a lawyer may help you recover your loss by seeking financial compensation from negligent manufacturers.
