Actor suspected of DUI arrested after Encino crash

A car crash in Encino, California on February 10 prompted the arrest of actor Chris Kattan after he was suspected to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

The incident happened at around 1:00 a.m. on the 101 Freeway near Balboa Boulevard when the westbound car driven by the 43-year-old actor hit a parked Department of Transportation truck. Prior to the accident, Kattan was reported to be driving slowly in an erratic manner. Kattan sustained a bloody nose in the accident, but no one else was injured in the crash.

Responding officers arrested the actor after he failed a sobriety test administered to him. Kattan was released from Van Nuys jail on the same day after setting a bail of $15,000.

He is expected to appear in court on March 3 to face the misdemeanor DUI charge filed against him.

Unfortunately, victims of drivers who are under the influence usually suffer serious injuries or, in the most tragic of circumstances, are killed.
