Toyota recalls 615,000 Sienna minivans

Automaker giant Toyota is recalling at least 615,000 old models of Sienna minivans due to a transmission issue that may cause the minivans to roll away, according to a report released on Thursday, September 26.

The recall affects 2004-2005 and 2007 to 2009 models of Toyota Sienna that may roll away when the shift lock solenoid is damaged. The automaker explained that the older Sienna minivans’ shift lever may unintentionally move out from the “Park” position and start rolling away if the driver does not step on the brake pedal.

There were 21 accidents and two minor injuries that were linked to the transmission problem. Owners of the recalled Siennas will be notified by their dealers. The issue will be solved by installing new shift lock solenoids.
