K-9 police officer only sustains minor injuries after collision with two semi-trucks

An 18-year K-9 veteran of the Racine Police Department, who was driving in his squad car on February 5, was fortunate to have suffered only minor injuries after getting involved in an accident with two semi trucks at around 12:20 p.m.

Officer Tim Waystedt was traveling southbound close to the 7-Mile Road exit on I-94 when a semi truck hit the rear of his car, causing him to be lodged under another semi truck before spiraling out and falling in a ditch. Waystedt’s canine partner, Marco, was not in the vehicle at the time.

According Public Information Officer Sgt. Jessie Metoyer of the Racine Police Department, Waysted was immediately brought to the Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s Hospital. Doctors released him shortly after examination.

Following the accident, Wisconsin State Patrol was requesting any information on the whereabouts of the semi-trucks’ drivers.

Unfortunately, semi-trucks can cause extremely devastating accidents, especially when the driver is negligent. If you have been harmed in such an accident, speak with our legal team at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. about taking legal action against the party responsible.
