Off-duty police officer critically injured in head-on collision

An off-duty police officer was critically injured in a head-on collision Wednesday on Interstate 94.

According to officials with the police department, the accident occurred when a 23-year-old woman, who was traveling the wrong way on the highway, struck the man’s vehicle as he headed home from work.

Both drivers were seriously injured in the accident and had to be freed from their cars as a result of the collision. They were both transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The 23-year-old driver was cited for reckless driving, OWI, wrong-way driving, and driving without proper lights. No further updates on the condition of either victim has been released.
