Police investigate fatal head-on collision in Columbia county

A head-on collision between a semitrailer and motorcycle in Columbia county has resulted in the deaths of two local teenage boys.

After a preliminary investigation, it was found that the driver of the semi was traveling on Highway 51, just five miles south of the Village of Arlington, when he crossed the center line of the highway for unknown reasons.

His vehicle then struck a motorcycle that was traveling north with two riders. The 17-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger both sustained fatal injuries in the collision and were pronounced dead at the scene. The semitrailer driver was not injured in the collision.
