Mating season expected to increase deer-related car accidents

The months of October and November are one of two peak mating times for deer in Wisconsin.  Deer mating is a cause for concern according to public safety officials because of deer-related car accidents are expected to increase.

Last year, deaths from deer-related car accidents doubled statewide.  Fourteen people in Brown County alone were killed in deer-related collisions.

Driving hazards will abound, and “deer will be on the move literally 24 hours a day in search of a receptive doe who is ready to breed,” according to Jeff Pritzl of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
