One killed in head-on crash in Baraboo

A 21-year-old woman was killed in a Baraboo car accident on Saturday.

According to Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister, the woman crossed over the center line of the roadway as she was driving south of County Highway T on Gillem Road. The vehicle then collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck driven by a 73-year-old Brookfield man.

Volunteers from the Baraboo Fire Department responded to the accident. The driver of the pickup truck sustained only minor injuries. The woman, however, was taken to University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Wisconsin State Patrol and Sauk County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the crash.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
