One dead in Racine County crash

A Rochester man was involved in a Racine County one-car crash on Highway 36 Saturday evening.

According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the man was driving north on the highway near the intersection of River Road. The driver lost control of his vehicle, entering into a grassy median after leaving the road. The vehicle continued to travel northbound and then crossed oncoming traffic. He eventually crashed into the ditch and trees located on the other side of the highway.

When the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, Rochester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and others arrived to the scene, they found the man still wearing his seat belt and pinned inside the car.

The 67-year-old man was pronounced dead at the crash scene. It is thought that the accident may have been the result of a medical condition that the victim suffered from. However, the actual cause of the crash has yet to be determined and is still under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
