Man Killed in Racine Rollover Accident

A Lake Geneva man was killed in a Racine rollover accident Monday.

According to officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway D. The accident remains under investigation, but investigators believe the crash may have occurred after an empty 1997 Mack dump truck encountered a wild turkey on the road and lost control of the vehicle.

According to the accident report, the truck slid sideways into the eastbound lanes where it was struck in the rear axle by a westbound 2002 Saturn S11. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to roll on their drivers’ sides.

The driver of the Saturn, Christopher Bowler, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The truck driver was transported by ground ambulance to Froedtert Hospital in Wauswatosa for treatment. He was listed in stable condition Monday evening.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family and friends during this difficult time.
