Two Injured in Racine Reckless Driving Accident

A two women were injured in a Racine car accident Friday.

According to officials with the Racine Police Department, the three-vehicle accident occurred just after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Fifth Street. Racine Traffic Investigator Phil Frost said a newspaper story saying police were seeking witnesses resulted in two people coming forward, helping them complete the investigation.

On Sunday, Frost cited one of the drivers, 19 year-old Catherine White, with failure to yield the right of way.

Frost said the accident occurred as White, traveling westbound on Fifth Street, pulled through the stop sign at Wisconsin Avenue. Her 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser collided with a Tyota Sienna minivan, driven by 19 year-old Magaly Garcia, which was headed southbound in the west lane. A 1992 Buick LeSabre driven by 44 year-old John Zillyette could not stop in time and crashed into the Cruiser.

White and Garcia were transported by ground ambulance to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital.
