Three Injured in Racine Speeding Accident

Three people were injured in a Racine speeding accident Saturday night.

According to Racine Police Department Sergeant Tim Koetting, a speeding driver caused a three-car accident on Douglas Avenue near 3 Mile Road shortly before 8:00 p.m. Police are still investigating the accident and have not released the names of the drivers or victims.

According to Koetting, a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass was traveling south on Douglas Avenue at an estimated 50 miles-per-hour when it struck a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu that was pulling out from DeRango’s Pizza Palace at 3840 Douglas Ave. The impact sent the Malibu about 50 feet into the restaurant’s parking lot where it struck a parked car.

The driver of the Malibu became pinned in the wreckage and was extricated by firefighters.

Three people in the southbound car were injured in the crash, Koetting said. All three victims were transported by ground ambulance to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospitals for treatment.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was brought in to assist in the investigation.
