Police Officer Injured in Racine Car Accident

A Caledonia Police Officer was injured in a Racine car accident Friday afternoon.

According to assistant police chief John Barnes, officer David Rewolinski was responding to a call of a car accident shortly after 1:00 p.m. Friday on Highway 31 when his vehicle was struck by a car. Barnes said the car that struck Rewolinski was pulling out onto Highway 31 from West Johnson.

“He was headed to the scene of a car crash with lights and sirens on when the car pulled out in front of him,” Barnes said. “He tried to take evasive action to avoid hitting the other car, but was unable to avoid the crash.”

Rewolinski sustained minor injuries in the accident but refused treatment. The driver of the other car was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. No information on the nature or extent of his injuries was available.
