One Injured in Alleged Racine Drunk Driving Accident

A man was arrested after an alleged Racine drunk driving accident Wednesday.

According to officials with the Caledonia Police Department, 39 year-old Michael Nelson was driving a pickup truck east on Four Mile Road near Douglas Avenue shortly after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday when he rear-ended an SUV. Police say the driver of the SUV had stopped for a train when Nelson collided with his vehicle.

Officers suspected Nelson was intoxicated and administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. Police did not issue formal charges, which are pending until the Racine County District Attorney’s office receives the results of a blood test.

The driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of a neck injury after the accident. No information on the extent of his injury was available.
