Girl Killed, Man Injured in Racine Speeding Accident

A Racine car accident Sunday morning claimed the life of a 16 year-old Kenosha girl.

A car was found crashed into a tree in the 3500 block of Taylor Avenue, at Elm Tree Court, shortly before 2:00 a.m. Sunday, according to officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department. Police say the two occupants of the vehicle had to be extricated by the South Shore rescue unit.

The female passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She was later identified as Mary Ynocencio, of Kenosha, by the Racine County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Monday morning.

The 18 year-old male driver of the car was transported by ambulance to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital, and later transferred to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. The driver’s identity has not been released.

The accident remains under investigation. Authorities say speed was considered a factor in the crash. Investigators are working to determine whether alcohol contributed to the accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and friends during this difficult time.
