Defendant Admits to Drinking Before Crash that Killed 3

Prosecutors say the man charged with driving drunk in a crash that killed a Racine Woman and two others told an investigator he had two beers and a shot of liquor before the crash.

According to court documents, Bradley Erickson is charged with three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Erikson was involved in a crash last week that killed three people: 19 year-old Marcus Johnson, of Milwaukee; 20 year-old Elysia Rapp, of Racine, and 23 year-old Wilfredo Ugarte, of Puerto Rico.

Erickson told an investigator that he didn’t see the victims’ car parked along Interstate 39/90 because he had gone around a tractor-trailer, according to the criminal complaint. The victims were changing a flat tire on the side of the road at the time of the crash.

Erikson is expected to make a court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
