Racine Man Gets 18 Years in Prison for Causing Fatal Crash

A man from Racine has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to causing a fatal crash while fleeing police.

According to court documents, 23 year-old Jerry G. Holliman agreed to plead guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and in return, prosecutors dismissed three other charges. Prosecutors say Holliman sped away from a Kenosha County deputy who tried to pull him over for speeding on 22nd Avenue near 48th Street in April 2009. During the chase Holliman turned into the path of a 31 year-old Anibal Tellez of Pleasant Prarie.

Tellez was killed in the crash.

The plea deal saved Holliman from a potential 25 additional years in prison. He rejected a similar plea agreement last year.
