Flight For Life Called to Racine Crash

A Flight For Life helicopter was called to the scene of an early morning car accident in Racine Friday.

According to officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, a man who crashed his car while trying to pass a tractor-trailer on Spring Street was transported by Flight For Life to Foredtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. Police say the man, whose name has not been released, was suffering from back pain and could not feel is legs. He was listed in critical condition Friday night.

Witnesses told authorities that the man was traveling eastbound in a sedan when he attempted to pass a semi, lost control of his vehicle, and went into the ditch line. Deputies said his car struck the culvert, moved across spring street and came to rest in a ditch on the south side of the roadway.

The man was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He is expected to make a full recovery.
