Teen Driver Crashes Into Bleachers, Injures 6

Six people were injured when a minivan crashed into bleachers at a softball game in Racine Monday night.

According to officials with the Racine Police Department, a 16 year-old started up the van while watching his mother play softball. Witnesses believe he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes. Police say the teen does not have a drivers license, and it appears the crash was an accident. The teen will likely be cited, and may even face a criminal charge for reckless driving.

Witnesses described the aftermath of the crash as pandemonium. Marshlli Hamilton, who was playing softball at the time, said parents were rushing to their injured children after the crash. “I’ve never been that frightened in my life,: Hamilton said. “We just dropped our gloves and ran off the field, because the majority of our children sit in those bleachers.”

Police say none of the six people who were injured suffered serious injuries.
