Police Seeking Driver in Racine Hit-And-Run

Police are searching for the driver who ran over a man in Racine early Wednesday morning and drove off.

According to officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, a 40 year-old man from Racine was reportedly lying in the street prior to being hit. Police were called by a passerby who was attempting to help the man shortly after 2:00 a.m. While en route to the call, officers learned that the witness had called back to say the man had now been run over by a car.

The victim was transported to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital by Racine rescue. He was later transported to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Police are searching for the driver of the car that hit the man. Witnesses said it was a newer model, teal Chevy Impala. It was last seen headed north on Marquette from the crash scene.
