Man dies from injuries after drunk driving hit-and-run

Nine days after suffering injuries from an accident with a drunk driver, a Racine man passed away last Monday. The 46 year-old man formerly served four years in the United States Army.

The 34 year-old driver, taken into police custody shortly after the incident, was found with bloodshot eyes and clear signs of intoxication. After checking his blood alcohol content and surveillance cameras from a gas station, he was arrested. Following the tragic complication of his actions, the District Attorney stated that his charges could be widened to include Operating While Intoxicated, or OWI, Causing Death, which could carry up to a 40 year prison sentence.
