Girl, grandfather injured in accident

Two pedestrians were critically injured Sunday evening when a car jumped the curb and hit them in Kenosha, Wis., authorities said. The 4-year-old girl and her grandfather were flown to Milwaukee hospitals for treatment, police said. The girl was on her tricycle next to her grandfather when a vehicle stopped at a stop sign and then drove through, hitting another vehicle, authorities said.

The child was dragged under the car to the middle of a nearby lawn, police said, where the vehicle came to a stop. Several witnesses ran to the scene and tried to lift the vehicle and remove the girl, authorities said, but the girl was still partially pinned under the vehicle when rescue personnel arrived. Police cited the driver for failing to yield the right of way.
