Case Stalled by Delayed Lab Results

The case against a man who crashed into another vehicle in July while allegedly asleep after taking prescription methadone has been stalled by a six to eight-month delay in lab results for the blood test.

The 31-year-old driver said he took 300 mg of methadone that morning in his daily visit to a Racine clinic for former heroin use.  According to him, the doctor said 300 mg is not enough to impede driving.

The county will perform blood-alcohol tests but not blood-drug tests for “complicated” reasons, and the state is supposedly very backed up on testing.
